Did you know?

The TexShare card program allows DBU students to check out books from other academic and public libraries all around the state.

Go Global!

What if DBU doesn't own the book you need?  No worries—you can expand your search to "Libraries Worldwide" to find out which libraries do own that item.

On the catalog search screen, change the drop-down from "Dallas Baptist University" to "Libraries Worldwide" and click Search.

Click on the title of the item you want.  Scroll down to "Find a copy in the library."

Now you have a choice:

  • Click the "Worldwide libraries own this item" link to find out if other libraries near you have a copy.  If there is a copy nearby (in the state of Texas), you can use a TexShare card to check it out for yourself.  (Read all about the TexShare card here.)  You should probably call the library to make sure the item is available before you go there.

OR

  • Click the blue button to request the item through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).  This will open an ILL request form, which you can fill out and submit.  The Interlibrary Loan program allows us to borrow books and other items from libraries all around the country.  When we receive the item, we will contact you to come pick it up.  NOTE: check-out periods vary according to the lending libraries' policies.  Other policies and instructions will be attached to the item you requested—please read and follow all instructions carefully.
